Porcupine
2. What distinctive characteristics are unique to this animal?
- Serpentine sweep of tail and quills in the snow (green arrow).
- Tracks are pitched inwards meaning the front of the tracks are not facing forwards but are cocked inward (blue arrow).
- Short stride length but broad trail width. Even without a scale you can see how the animal is wide and not stepping that far each time. This reflects the animals broad frame and short legs.
